In just this last week, a whole symphony of birds has started up! It has been wonderful, this first spring at our new house. Living for years on that main street, I never woke up to the sound of birds. It is such an exiting development that I had forgotten would happen. Yesterday as I came home from work I was sure I heard my beloved everything bird, back from his holidays. Sure enough, there he was perched a top the highest tree signing his heart out! It was quite a performance, he was trying his best for his first show of the year and all the birds were represented in his repertoire plus a few car alarm noises and the like. Then this morning on my way to get groceries who should I hear but my old friend the red winged blackbird - here is he above. Of course I can't forget the sudden re appearance of robins, whose song I love above all and the regular cast of sparrows and grackles, a few starlings, lovely slate colored junkos and a pondersome predatorial bird who flies high overheard. I don't know what he could be...
The birds singing are a true sign that spring is on its way! Yay for spring.

Chirping birds always fill me with immense joy. It makes me hopeful and DESPERATE for garden flowers and ice cream from a truck.
Love that bird drawing. You've got a way with a pen, my dear.
