Well, it has been an exiting week. Ever since I moved in here last year, I harboured vague hopes that I might rope the 3 girls who live on the street into some knitting lessons. I knew that if I were to offer, they probably would not be interested. All it took was a little patience and a little unintentional advertising by knitting ( which I always do on the porch anyway) while they were tearing up and down the street on their bikes. It didn't take long before they were hopping up and down on my front steps begging for lessons!
It is two sisters and another girl all around ages 6-9 and we had our first lesson on Tuesday on my front steps. I have decided Tuesday will be knitting day because I have to set boundaries with these little whippersnappers or they will be ringing my doorbell every day. And it only will be for about a half hour to start out because I get home on my bike and not too long after dinner beckons. So anyway, casting on was tackled and I think all three have the hang of that. We'll see what they remember by next Tuesday! Fun!
Maybe by fall all three will have some scarves underway.
In other news, I have not felt so happy to read something in the newspaper in ages and ages. Yesterday I read that the Revue cinema will be saved after all!! It had closed down a while ago and looked doomed until this kind man bought it. Yippee- it is about a 30-45 minute very pleasant walk away and I look forward to an autumn of movies! All our little old theatres are closing and it is sad. The big ones are too loud!
AND! You must have seen Hillary's beautiful new baby girl by now- AWWWW look at her! Congratulations to the Lang family!
That is good news about the Revue!

patience does pay off! my friend and i started a knitting group here last winter and while we have a rotating list of girls who come when the mood strikes, it'll be nice to have a few permanent members. looks like KIP is on the menu! i hope they have lots of fun with it and with you :)

How cool to share knitting lessons with your young neighbors! I look forward to hearing about their progress.
