Photo borrowed from the City of Toronto Archives site.
This is where I get my groceries. In the 1890's it was a rope factory, can you imagine? I love old pictures and the Toronto Archives search is just fascinating to me. When I feel jittery or worried, old pictures calm me down instantly. They remind me of the big picture, that it will all be ok and life just goes on. I love to see pictures of people bustling around town 100 years ago, crossing streets I walk on regularly and I love to wonder what worries or joys they may have had at the time the picture was taken. Are those two little boys in this photo chatting about who is taking the picture? Those old cars are busily going somewhere too. It all reminds me how grateful I am to be busy and working and living, like all those before and after me, life just goes on. Time for lunch.
I get that sort of feeling when I think about how big the world is and that maybe someone thousands of miles away has just cooked the evening meal and is sitting wondering what to do now... this is why I like blogs so much - instead of time travel - I get to do armchair travel. this makes me feel connected. hello to you thousands of miles and several time zones away!

Tania, you are right. Sometimes things seem really terrible and crazy, but in the grand scheme ... they're blips. I guess that is how i'm dealing with all the stuff that has been happenign to us. Our house in Canada, our break-in to name just a few of the things that have been less than perfect for us lately.
Thanks for the reminder!
